Made it…to the Roof of Africa!
Posted by Glenn
As the title suggests…I made it!
That is all I will say, for now, until I can compile some more photographs, but here is one from the summit, on Saturday morning.
Below,we have myself, and Kenny Moore, along with our guide Camanda. We reached the top together…I was so glad I had walking poles, to lean on…bent double and gasping! (more about that at a later date, when I can think about it without feeling breathless!)

Got something to say?

HUGE congratulations for making it to the summit ! You must be really happy, & pleased too …. Hope that you enjoyed your time in Tanzania amongst the wonderful, warm Tanzanian people & look forward to hearing in more detail about your trip. I’m sure that your family are really happy that you are back safe & sound with them again now too !
Bye for now
Lynda
Ahsante Sana Lynda, (swahili for Thanks very much)
I did enjoy meeting the people, the guides, porters, and the few local people from around the hotel, were all very friendly, but I’m not so sure I could say I enjoyed every aspect of the trek though!
I am certainly glad to be back with my family, and I think they are glad too!
I have approx 1500 photos to sort through (after deleting a good few!) so when I get on top of them, I will be trying to relate some experiences.
Thanks for stopping by!
PS: My wife appreciated your recommendation of Shah Industries, as she loved the bag I bought her!
Hi Glenn
Was so glad to hear from Geraldine that you had arrived at the summit safely. Really delighted. I know that Jed , Kezia and Geraldine were looking forward to your safe return. Will love to see some of the 1,500 photographs when you get them sorted. I am sure you will have lots of happy memories of your trip to Africa.
God Bless
Valerie
Valerie…It definitely is good to be home, I just hope the memories of the difficult times on the trek don’t drown out the better memories…it will probably be the other way round!
I am planning to get some more photos on here soon, but it will probably take a while, as there are so many.
Speak soon, Glenn
Mum told me the news.
I was delighted to hear you made it to the top, Glenn. Really delighted!
I thought you might have grown a beard to keep your chops warm
LOL! Armen, I was under strict instructions from Geraldine to stay clean-shaven!
Kenny didn’t shave for the whole time on the mountain, and he had a respectable enough beard by the summit day!
It’s hard to believe its over. What an experience! – the people, the mountain, the animals, the extra food you and I ate and the presence of God night by night.
Already I don’t remember any difficulties!
mmm, Irwin, I’ll have to remind you sometime
I can certainly remember some difficulties!
Glenn I think you told me one time that pain is only weakness leaving the body
Irwin, If I remember correctly, I said that I heard someone say that
Congratulations on your achievement. Perhaps you will come and talk to us in Horizon House and show us your photographs when you feel able. I am the physio in the Hospice- Ruth- and feel very humbled by your success.
Ruth Graham
Thank you Ruth, and thank you for the suggestion to visit…maybe we could arrange something?
I was glad of the opportunities to talk about the Hospice, that this venture has brought, it was good to talk about wee Keren, and good to remind people about the work you all do at Horizon House.
Thanks again,
Glenn

Its a great achievement…God is good!!!
From your fav youngest sister !
My fav youngest sister….my fav youngest sister…now who could that be?
Ah yes! Melody! It was “soooo” good to get home safe and sound! You didn’t miss me too much I hope
It is not so good to be back to the coughs & colds of the winter weather back here!
You both will have to get round to see some photos!
