Good luck next week and enjoy what should be an amazing experience. I'll be rooting as well.. and should find my way up to the donation button as well.

Kevin

PS. I wandered over here from dpreview many months back and book marked your site. Looks like I missed out on many stunning photos of your hikes. I'll be sure to check back to see Kilimanjaro.

Ahsante sana Lynda! for your kind wishes, your donation, your advice and your encouragement!
We will definitely check out El Rancho, and Shah's sounds good (my wife is glad you pointed out that shop!)
Thank you so much for your welcome, and if I am able, I will wave westward towards your family!

PS:I liked your photo of Kili, taken on your way to school!

Hi Glenn

Thanks for stopping by my blog & leaving a comment, I will copy my reply to you below this but first just wanted to say how very sorry I am to you & your family for the loss of your precious Keren.

Thank you for making more people aware of this condition (I had never heard of it until I found your site) & bless you for climbing Kilimanjaro for charity (I will leave a small donation after this).

All the very best for your climb, I've bookmarked your blog & will return to root for you to get to the top, & to see how you get on. All the very best, Lynda (P.S. My reply to yours below ...

GLENN thanks for popping in :) Good luck for your Kili climb, wonderful that you are doing it for charity, too. No, I have never climbed her ! I would love to hear how you get on - wave to us from the top, we're one of the few cultivated area's you'll see running up to the edge of the Kilimanjaro forest on her Western slopes.

Moshi is a lovely town, do go to "El Rancho" for great & reasonably priced food, their curries are the best ! Past main post office/Stanbic bank on right is a bakery selling great snack type food, pies etc also well priced. Oh & do try an icy cold Kilimanjaro lager - available anywhere !

If you want some good leather goods (shoes, handbags & small keepsakes) ask for Shah's Leather shop in the industrial area.

Have you checked out www.kilitrekker.com as they also have some great tips & advice for Kili climbers.

Welcome to Tanzania or "karibu" as we say here, I bet you'll love this beautiful country and her friendly, welcoming people :)
