From Altarichard, around Glenshesk…in the Rain, Snow, and Mud !

Posted by Glenn

We had a great walk this day,05/01/08, and even though the weather was a little less than perfect, it is always good to get out into the hills. The conditions weren’t great for photography. Quite often, the conditions were so bad, that the camera was imprisoned, against its’ will, in my backpack. Also the sky was very bright and grey, not a good combination , but, nevertheless, here are some shots that I am quite pleased with.

As you can see below, the sky didn’t help the photographs, but I like the perspective this gives, of my companions going up the other side of this glen.

This is looking straight down into the glen, after I have crossed over.

Slightly wet underfoot!

We were still smiling though.

This was the “Final Furlong” back to the cars which you can almost see, in the Altarichard Picnic Area car park, in the distance.

I must admit, these photographs don’t really capture how horrible the weather was at times…and that was with full waterproofs , head to toe!

The last three shots were taken in the final 30 minutes of the walk, and conditions were pretty good for these ;) but most of the day wasn’t so nice :(

Having said that…there is an old saying:
“There is no such thing as bad weather….only the wrong clothes!”

I thoroughly enjoyed the whole day, rain, snow, and all !

Ahhaa!! Love that quote! So true too….I climbed the Mournes at the end of January and it was fantastic….in fact, the cold, wind and snow at the top made it all the more beautiful!

What is that soft looking brown stuff you are tramping through?? ;)

I absolutely love the last shot, Glenn. It seems to have a kind of very slight fish eye perspective, and it really leads your eye down with those walking. Very frame worthy me thinks.

Armen! G’day, That is a mixture of Rain, Snow and Mud :)

I really like that shot too…my favourite from that day! Hope you have plenty from your expedition!

Got something to say?
